Why Cloud 2011


"Uncle Lou has a nice digital camera. Let him take your pictures." This e-mail arrived from a mother who, for obvious reasons, wishes to remain anonymous: "Dear Steven Cloud, Thank you for being able to fit Lauren (not her real name) into your busy schedule. We felt really bad about calling you, because she had already been photographed by her uncle, who had a nice digital camera. He told her he could take her pictures for a lot less than a professional. What he didn’t say was how bad they would turn out! The lesson we learned from all this is just because you have a good camera doesn’t mean you can take a good picture. We also learned that senior portraits are too important for do-it-yourselfers. Thank you for the incredible photos and the professionalism you and your staff showed in working with us. We love her pictures, and are telling everybody about you (except her uncle)." The difference between a homemade snapshot and a professional portrait is like a haircut done by a stylist and one done by your friend with a nice pair of scissors. Either way your hair gets cut.
